How accommodation checks can differ
Accommodation rules and practices vary widely across countries. In some destinations, the question of relationship status may come up more directly than travellers expect. In a number of Muslim-majority countries, hotels and other accommodation providers may ask a couple to state or confirm their relationship status before allowing them to stay together, in line with local rules or standard procedures. ResMi Pass provides a clear way to present that information in a single document.
What ResMi Pass records
ResMi Pass links relationship information to your trip. It states the relationship status you declare—such as married, cohabiting, or engaged—and lists the destination or destinations for travel. The document is structured so the reader can quickly see who it applies to and what it is confirming.
Personal details included
The document includes both individuals’ names, dates of birth, email addresses and phone numbers, along with an identification reference such as a passport number or national ID number. It may also include the date the relationship began, if relevant for the purpose of the declaration.
Signing and witness verification
ResMi Pass is signed by both individuals in the relationship. Two witnesses aged 18 or over also sign the document to confirm that they have verified the couple’s signatures. This creates a clear record of signing and verification.
Using the document during a trip
ResMi Pass may be presented to hotels, resorts, aparthotels, and short-term rentals such as Airbnb, as well as other accommodation types where relationship information is requested. It is designed to be easy to show when needed, without requiring additional explanations.
Traveller responsibility and local requirements
Travellers are responsible for checking the rules and documentation requirements for their destination and trip, including entry requirements, stay conditions, and accommodation rules. ResMi Pass is used as supporting documentation when relationship status is requested.
